About this

This is the Mayer family blog maintained by Andy Mayer.

Purpose

I’ll post updates here of what’s going on in our lives - especially with the little people; Joel and Anna. The aim of this site is to keep friends and family updated with our family news, and anything interesting that catches my eye. So if you are not friends or family expect to be VERY BORED.

Then

Original blogIn 1998 I created a blog website to log the birth of Joel and my various work exploits in Copenhagen. That was before the term blog was widely used, broadband was unheard of, and video content wasn’t possible on the web.
The site won many design awards and represented the best of 90’s web design (ie. small fonts, frames, pop ups and mysterious navigation). It makes me smile to see these old techniques still in use today…

The site mainly documented our journey into parenthood and was a great adventure at the time. You can still read some of the original material (albeit formatted in a more accessible way) by clicking on the Joel link at the top of the page. The main contents at the time were a weekly log of Nicola’s pregnancy which we called “Oli Log”.

Now

Now we are older and wiser. Since then we have a second child called Anna, and in the last two years we have started our own full-time business. It seems appropiate to start the blogging again, but this time with a different focus and with this new 21st Century take on the Internet (hence the “2.0″ suffix).
